Intent

Computing is a huge part of all of our lives. At Barmby Moor we feel it’s vital to provide a wealth of learning opportunities and transferrable skills within the Computing lesson and across other curriculum subjects. Our children will learn to develop a wide range of fundamental skills, knowledge and understanding that will equip them for a life of ever increasing technology.  

Implementation

Computing can help pupils make accelerated progress. We support pupils to develop their skills such as researching, typing, editing and art skills. Then we use those skills in cross-curricular work.

Internet Safety

All children at Barmby Moor will be taught about internet safety, which even begins at early years. Throughout the time at Barmby Moor, they will be taught to use technology safely and respectfully and recognise acceptable and unacceptable behaviour, keeping personal information private, identify where to go for help and support when they have concerns about content or contact on the internet or other online technologies.

Impact

By the end of Key Stage 2, children at Barmby will be equipped, not only with the skills and knowledge to use technology in the early part of their lives and will give them they base knowledge they need as technology grows and becomes even more sophisticated.  They will have the foundations of internet safety and will have the knowledge and skills to stay safe and pass on the massage to others.

With a consistent exposure to a life of computing, our children are becoming more confident in their abilities in Computing, they will become more independent and key life skills will come naturally.
