Please endeavour to read with your child each day.  This should be an enjoyable time sharing your child’s reading book together.  Reading with your child might also include:

• Predicting what might happen before sharing the story or at key turning points
• Discussing new or interesting words and what they might mean
• Relating events and experiences in the story to their own lives
• Talking about characters and how they interact
• In non-fiction books, talk about how information is presented
• With older pupils, reading the same book as your child and then discussing your views together at key points.
