Enhanced Provision for Communication and Interaction

In September 2025, Barmby Moor CE Primary School launched a dedicated enhanced provision to support pupils with identified communication and interaction needs. This is a school-led provision within our mainstream setting and is designed to provide an enhanced level of support for pupils who benefit from a more individualised and structured approach to aspects of their learning and development.

The provision offers a supportive and carefully structured environment, with support tailored to the individual needs of each pupil. This may include targeted work on communication and language, social interaction, emotional regulation, independence and access to learning. Pupils may access specialist resources, small-group or individual support and approaches recommended by relevant professionals.

Pupils accessing the enhanced provision remain an important part of the wider school community. Opportunities for learning and participation within their mainstream classes are planned according to each pupil's individual needs, strengths and outcomes, with the aim of promoting inclusion, independence and meaningful participation in school life.

The level and type of support provided is regularly reviewed in partnership with parents/carers, school staff and, where appropriate, external professionals to ensure that the provision continues to meet each pupil's individual needs.
